This week was a pretty exiting week for me. The first day we went up to Kincaid Park, and some went and played games like football, kickball, and ultimate Frisbee. The remaining people went for a trot up the trails. We had lunch there and hung out for the rest of the day. It was a pretty laid back day and fun for me because I haven’t been there in years.
The next day we took a bus up to Rendezvous Peak and went for a hike. The hike was fun at first, but when we got to the top, it was so cold and the wind was blowing too hard. We sat up there and wrote in our journals about our surroundings. After that we split up in three groups. One of the groups wanted to go back down, the other went up the right side of the mountain, and the rest went and hiked up to the peaks and got a beautiful view of the city.
The next day was the worst day of the week. We went up to Byron Glacier to go for a hike, but it was raining I mean, not a little, but a lot; it was like taking a shower outside with your clothes on. Before the hike, we went through the tunnel to Whittier. Then came back and went on the hike to the glacier. Then came back to Anchorage it was the worst bus ride ever because the bus was leaking and everybody was soaking wet. And yesterday we went up to Hope to go for a hike, and the other half went fishing. The hike was fun. We walked for about six miles and turned around. Then we went back to go to the river, where people were catching fish. When we got to the river, it was fun. Barb bought us all hot chocolate then sat in the cold until everyone was there so we could go on the bus. And then we went home.
MEET THE AUTHOR: My name is Tia. I was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. I don’t love it here, but I get by because I’ve been here my entire life. I’m not much of an outdoors person, but ever since I joined this program, I learned that it’s not all that bad to be outdoors. Good day good sir!
