Reading from Mr. Spade's talk

Read about these two people, and THEN take the poll on the right side of the blog.

  1. My ethics lie within those of John Muir's because I believe in conserving what wilderness we have left and preserving it for time after time. I agree with him and politely disagree with Gifford Pinchot because I am a pessimist. I do not have faith in people. I believe that if we do this so called, "planned use and renewal" tactic, people are just going to take advantage because they believe that, "no one's looking" or "everybody else does it" as in they take more than what they need. So I don't think that people have the restraint needed to hold back, to let them take only what they need. Or that they will plant the trees to replace those they cut, I believe that people are too lazy to do so. I say, we don't leave anything to chance and make it not possible for people to hunt or cut down the trees in what wilderness we have. Make what we have here, national parks.

  2. Nice response, and the use of his ideas in your reasoning is perfect. You've made an excellent argument. Let's here something for the other side.
