Collected Poems from Write Alaska! students

"JERKIN" by AREJAY

I jerked
I jerked on a hike
I jerked to the bus
I jerked on dirt
I jerked for everyone
And now my pride got hurt

"One or the Other"
By Scott (July 21st, 2009)

On the way up we went & went.
Knowing quite well, in the end we'd be spent.
Though on the way, we'd have to wait,
And in my head, I thought, "Oh great."
I wanted to go, I just had to see, what would be waiting, at the top for me.
So let me ask you, right here, and right now.
What is it you think, I rhyme of and how?
Is it a mountain, or life?
Aren't they one and the same?

"Moments"
by Jecenia

Cherishing this moment
Like no other
To hold and
To never let go
To be
In one accord.
To keep
To savor and
Breathe.
To cherish.

"When I look feel hear my surroundings"
By Chase

When I look around
I see people
I see hill
I see wild grass
I see

When I feel
I feel calm
I feel wind
I feel cozy
I feel rain

When I hear
I hear birds
I hear rain
I hear dogs
I hear wind

  1. I think it is pretty amazing that these four very different poems came from all similar experiences. Nice work!
